Fox 61 News did a wonderful story highlighting two of our new residents at Bear Woods Apartments in Canton, Connecticut. With the building recently opening, this apartment complex provides integrated affordable housing for people seeking quality rental housing in Canton. Ten apartments in the 40 apartment building are specifically set aside for independent, accessible and supported living for people living with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The residents of those ten apartments are supported by our partner Favarh, the ARC of the Farmington Valley. The other apartments in the building provide rental opportunities at rents people can afford.

Bear Woods is made possible through the strong support of the the State of Connecticut Department of Housing, the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority. The first of its kind in Connecticut, the building serves as a model for integration and independence for people living with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Additionally, the development would not be possible without the investment and support of WNC & Company, Inc.
